Director of Photography?

I planned this blog post last night early this morning (2.30am to be exact.) I had just finished watching 'The Fault In Our Stars' for the second time and whilst the credits were rolling and I was listening to Ed Sheeran's 'All Of The Stars' I noticed the title Director of Photography .As some of you may know, I'm currently in my first year at the University of Huddersfield studying Photography and whilst I've made the decision to study this at degree, I've never really thought about what I would do with it afterwards, I did consider perhaps writing and taking pictures for a magazine but that was only because it involved doing two things I enjoyed. I have always just thought I would take it one day at a time and see where I ended up. However after watching 'The Fault In Our Stars' I have decided that being a Director of Photography sounds like a nice idea although I do not really know what it entails.

There are some books that turn out to be magical when shown on screen, especially when paired with an awesome soundtrack 'The Perks Of Being A Wallflower' and 'The Fault In Our Stars' are just two examples of this. I would love to be apart of something like that, when watching the extras of films or TV programmes I have always thought it would be good fun to work on set.  Of course this is just an idea, one that is going to take an extensive amount of research. I'll let you know how it goes.
